2013 Social Media Strategy Part 4: Google+

Is Google + still an up and coming Social Network?

I think it can be–people just need to learn how to use it correctly. As part of our social media strategy series for 2013, let’s take a look at how Google + can be beneficial to your business.

Google Plus Tips

  • Research the Pros – Notice that users of Google + don’t post as noteworthy content as they do on other social media sites. I’m not sure why that it, but if you want the contacts, you need quality content. So my suggestion is that you research some of the Google + pros and see why people are flocking to their content. One of the reasons they are flocking to the pros is because their content is valuable. If you’re already producing valuable content, then start posting it on Google +.
  • Write Blog Posts Daily – Write one blog post a day and post it twice a day to Google +. This will do several things:
    1.  The blog posts will generate more targeted traffic to your blog.
    2.  Each click you get on Google + helps you improve your search engine ranking within Google.
  • Shiny Object Syndrome – Post pictures with bright colors on Google +. Users on Google + like bright colored pictures. However, don’t post too many a day. Keep it simple. It could be a picture you have pinned.
  • Be Social – As with any other social network you need to interact on Google +. That is the key ingredient that Google + users are missing. Plus one someone’s post. Offer a comment on an upcoming event. Interact. It’s a no brainer.

If you follow these basic social media rules, Google + can work in your social media strategy. Why? Because when people see you using it correctly, it adds value to your name. You become a pro.  How has Google + worked for you? Please, remember to share us on Google +!
